Reigning champions Enugu Rangers earned a point on the road on Tuesday after forcing Enyimba to a goalless draw in Aba in a rescheduled Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) encounter, Afrosport reports.
In a game of few chances, the hosts created more but neither side was able to find the back of the net in a keenly-contested Oriental derby at the Enyimba International Stadium.
Imoh Obot had a chance in the 35th minute to put the People’s Elephants in front, but his effort was well cut out by Rangers’ defence.
Kazeem Ogunleye, who received a call-up to the CHAN Eagles team, failed to keep his 39th-minute free kick on target as Rangers attempted to hurt their hosts.
In the second half, Enyimba’s Clinton Jephta dazzled upfront on a couple of occasions, but his tantalising runs resulted to nothing.
The match ended in a stalemate and the result takes Rangers’ Flying Antelopes to fourth in the NPFL standings with 24 points from 15 matches, five points behind leaders Rivers United, while Enyimba are sixth on 21 points after 13 games.
