Bendel Insurance returned to winning ways in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) with a 3-1 win against visiting Kwara United at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium on Saturday, Afrosport reports.
Nazir Mohammed stole the show with two first-half goals in the 17th and 29th minute, while Emmanuel Ogbole netted in between both goals to initially give Kwara United a lifeline.
Austin Ogunye wrapped up the victory for the Benin Arsenals who recorded their first win in three games. It was also their first game after coach Monday Odigie left his role.
At the Lafia Township stadium, Lobi Stars bottled a two-goal lead as they were forced to a 2-2 draw by Kano Pillars.
Ahmadu Liman and Ossy Martin had fired the Mika Lonnstrom-led side to a 2-0 lead, but veteran Midfielder Rabiu Ali led the comeback in the 78th minute.
Two minutes later, Mustapha Umar netted what earned Pillars a vital point on the road to remain unbeaten in their last four games.
At the El-Kanemi stadium in Maiduguri, Ibrahim Mustapha’a 19th minute penalty was enough for the Aliyu Zubairu’s side to beat struggling Akwa United 1-0.
