Nigeria’s Quadri wins gold in ITTF African Championships  

African number one table tennis player Aruna Quadri proved his dominance at the 2023 International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) African Championships in Tunis, Tunisia, by defeating Egyptian star Ahmed Saleh in the final of the men’s singles event.

The Nigerian clinched his second consecutive title after beating the African No. 3 in four straights sets on Sunday to make it two finals in a row where he’s overcome two Egyptian stars after beating his biggest rival Omar Assar last year.

Quadri, the world No. 18, won the first set 11-2 with a very dominant performance; he went on to take the second set 12-10 in a much closer round.

The 35-year-old continued in the same way he finished the previous two sets, winning the third and fourth with the same 11-6 scoreline.

On Saturday, the legendary Funke Oshonaike combined with Fatimo Bello to win gold in the women’s doubles event.

They Nigerian duo defeated Cameroon’s Sarah Hanffou and Egypt’s Marwa Alhodaby 3-2 in a breathtaking final.
