Nigeria’s Quadri Aruna has maintained his position in the latest rankings released by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) on Wednesday, Afrosport reports.
Aruna, who recently got to the round of 16 at the WTT Champions Frankfurt before losing to German Ricardo Walther, has held onto his 21st position in the world.
The 36-year-old, however, with 1405 points, got a 45-point increase from the last rankings release earlier this month. He also holds on to his second position in Africa as long-time rival and Egyptian star Omar Assar remains at the top with 1408 points and takes up the 20th spot in the world.
Aruna saw off Japan’s Harimoto 3-2 in the round of 32 at the WTT Champions Frankfurt but was undone by Walther, who recorded a similar score.
The Nigerian will have the opportunity to move up the rankings when the WTT Champions tournament moves to Fukuoka, Japan, next week.
