Super Falcons midfielder Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene has joined Canadian club Ottawa Rapid FC in the newly-launched Northern Super League (NSL), Afrosport reports.
The 31-year-old last played for Spanish club Levante Las Planas, which she joined in February 2023.
Ottawa Rapid technical director Kristina Kiss highlighted the attributes that propelled the club to sign the Nigerian.
“Ngozi Sonia Okobi-Okeoghene is a dynamic, offensively minded player with a wealth of experience at the highest levels of the game,” Kiss told the club website.
“Her strong 1 vs. 1 attacking abilities make her a constant threat on the ball, and her sharp decision-making ensures she’s always creating dangerous opportunities for her team.”
This marks a return to football for Okobi, four months after the birth of her first child, which she announced in September.
Okobi began her professional career in Nigeria with Delta Queens before securing a move to American club Washington Spirit in 2015. She also spent over four years in Sweden, playing for Vittsjo Gymnastik and Eskilstuna United.
The four-time African champion has played 75 times for the Super Falcons and will suit up for Ottawa Rapids in the Northern Super League’s inaugural season, which kicks off in April with five other teams.
