Nigeria’s Ezekiel Nathaniel secured a podium finish in the men’s 400 metres hurdles at the Diamond League final in Zurich on Thursday, Afrosport reports..
The 22-year-old crossed the line in 47.56 seconds to claim third place at the Letzigrund Stadium, behind world champion Karsten Warholm of Norway and Qatar’s Abderrahman Samba.
Warholm stormed to victory in a meet-record 46.70s, claiming his third Diamond League title following victories in 2019 and 2021. Samba, meanwhile, clinched second in 47.45s.
Nathaniel was one of two Nigerians in action on the night, alongside Udodi Onwuzurike, after world record holder Tobi Amusan withdrew from the competition.
Onwuzurike, competing in the men’s 200m final, was unable to make an impact as he finished eighth in a highly competitive field.
