Nigeria’s Eniola Bolaji wins gold at Spanish Para-Badminton International

Nigeria’s para-badminton star, Mariam Eniola Bolaji on Sunday won gold at the 2025 Spanish Para-Badminton International in Vitoria, spain, defeating Ukraine’s world No. 4 Oksana Kozyna 2-0 (21-15, 21-15) in straight sets, Afrosport reports.

The multiple African champion displayed sheer dominance all through the tournament, overcoming opponents from Brazil, France, Austrailia and India.

The Paris 2024 Paralympic bronze medalist had an impressive run on her path to glory, defeating Kauana Michelson Beckenka of Brazil 2-0 (21-15, 21-2) and then France’s Caroline Bergeron 2-0 (21-7, 21-8) in the group stage before cruising through the quarter-finals where she beat Australia’s Celine Vinot 2-0 (21-8, 21-12).

In the semi-finals, Bolaji was also spectacular, recording a dominant 2-0 (21-12, 21-6) win over India’s Neeraj and booked her spot in the final where she made light work of her Ukrainian counterpart.

Her victory is Spain further upgrades her status as one of the leading para-badminton players in the world and also puts her in top shape ahead of subsequent tournaments in the year.
