Nigerian heavyweight boxer Efe Ajagba continued his dominant display in the boxing ring by beating Australia’s Joe Goodall in Nevada on Saturday night.
Ajagba who suffered a loss against Goodall at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, knocked out his opponent in the the opening minute of the fourth round.
He stamped his authority in the fight immediately it started with continuous heavy hits from the first round and it was only a matter of time before he bagged his third win in 2023.
The 29-year-old, in the fourth round, landed series of unreplied punches on Goodall which made referee Tony Weeks to stop the fight and present the former African champion as winner even though his Australian opponent was still standing.
The victory extended Ajagba’s record to 19 wins in his professional career and it was his 14th knock-out win in the game while his only defeat came against Cuba’s Frank Sanchez in 2021.
Saturday’s triumph pushed Ajagba closer to challenge for a world title fight in the heavyweight and he retains his WBC silver heavyweight title.
He is currently placed seventh in the WBC rankings, behind leading world champion Tyson Fury, Chris Wilder and Anthony Joshua.
