ICC Men’s U19 World Cup: Nigeria finalise preparations for Africa qualifiers

Hosts Nigeria lost their second consecutive game in the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Africa Qualifiers following a disappointing 122-run defeat to Tanzania on Sunday, Afrosport reports.

The Junior Yellow Greens lost by 10 runs to Namibia in their opening game at the Tafawa Balewa Square Cricket Oval in Lagos and were looking to turn their fortunes around.

However, Sunday’s game at the same venue, did not go as planned as the Tanzanians, who won the toss and opted to bat first, recorded 154 runs for a loss of 10 wickets in 47.2 overs.

Nigeria needed 155 runs to secure victory but the Junior Yellow Greens managed only 32 runs and lost all 10 wickets in 16.1 overs.

Tanzania’s Laksh Bakrania was named Player of the Match after an impressive all-round display, which saw him record 44 runs off 79 balls while batting. Meanwhile he bowled seven overs and three maidens, took three wickets, and gave away 11 runs.
