Diomansy Kamara, the agent of Nicolas Jackson, has revealed that the Senegalese forward was close to joining AC Milan rather than Chelsea during the the summer transfer window.
The 22-year-old impressed towards the concluding part of the 2022-23 La Liga season with Villarreal, scoring nine goals in the final eight games between April and May which earned him the league’s player of the month for May.
This led to multiple offers for Jackson but he ultimately opted to move to Stamford Bridge for £32 million, signing an eight-year deal.
“He did well at Villarreal and many different offers came in,” Kamara, who is an ex-Senegal international and Fulham player told US Catanzaro Calcio News.
“We were close to signing for Milan, but then Chelsea came along and we went there instead.”
Jackson has started every Premier League game this season but has only found the back of the net once in Chelsea’s sole win so far which was a 3-0 victory over Luton Town last month.
