Nicolas Jackson was sent off as Chelsea suffered a 2-0 loss to Newcastle United in the race to finish in the Premier League top five, Afrosport reports.
The Blues came to St. James’ Park on Sunday afternoon off the back of a 3-1 win over reigning champions Liverpool last weekend.
They however fall behind against the Magpies in just the second minute of play with a clinical finish from Sandro Tonali off an assist from Jacob Murphy.
Chelsea were then given an early bath in 35th minute when Senegal forward Jackson was shown a red card for elbowing Sven Botman in the face following a VAR review that rescinded his earlier yellow card.
It was the first time the 23-year-old was sent off in a blue shirt and for the second time in his career.

Brazil midfielder Bruno Guimaraes put the game to bed in the 90th minute with a cracker from outside the penalty area that was beyond the reach of goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.
The result saw Newcastle move up to third on the league table, one point behind Arsenal who play Liverpool later on Sunday afternoon.
Chelsea meanwhile remain in fifth place, tied on 63 points with sixth-place Aston Villa and two points ahead of Nottingham Forest who play already-relegated Leicester City.
