Nice interim coach Digard assured of Moffi’s qualities

OGC Nice caretaker manager, Didier Digard, stated he has no doubts about Terem Moffi’s abilities after his top performance in Sunday’s 3-0 Ligue 1 win at AS Monaco.

The Nigeria international – on loan from Lorient, scored for the first time for the Cote d’Azur outfit with a brace and provided the assist for the third goal from Kephren Thuram-Ulien.

Moffi became the first Nice player to score two goals or more at Monaco since Mario Balotelli in a 2-2 draw back in January 2018.

“Once again, I never doubted him [Moffi]. The main thing is that he had the support of all his teammates and his coaches,” Digard said on the club website.

“We were aware of the situation and he could have had doubts, but he was able to work very calmly and feel the confidence everyone had in him. Today he was rewarded, but for me it’s normal.”

Moffi’s tally in Ligue 1 has increased to 14 goals which is the joint third highest behind Kylian Mbappe (17 goals) and Folarin Balogun and Jonathan David (15 goals).

Nice’s victory has extended their unbeaten run to eight games (W6 D2) and sees them sit in seventh place, five points away from the European qualification spots.

Next is a home tie against Auxerre on Friday.
