The Nigeria Football Federation has set a registration fee for clubs willing to participate in this year’s Nigeria Federation Cup tournament.
The Nigerian domestic competition is set to make a return after being cancelled for two of the last three years and interested male football clubs are to pay a sum of N120,000, while the female teams are expected to pay N100,000, with all registrations to be made at the federation office in Abuja.
The circular that was released this week, encapsulates the breakdown of the fixtures, with the registration of the interested clubs stated to begin from January 16 until January 30.
The submission of completed player forms for the production of licenses will begin immediately on the 31st of January and run through February 6.
The preliminary and final rounds of the federation cup at the state level will take place at each state FA’s office from February 18 until March 19.
Although the submission of the two final teams from each state will be done on March 20, the dates for the playoff matches and national draws are yet to be determined by the NFF.
The Federation Cup formerly known as the Challenge Cup, is a single-elimination knockout tournament contested by 74 teams from 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria.
The winners of the prestigious domestic competition automatically qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup for the following season.
Bayelsa United won the 2021 edition of the tournament, defeating Nasarawa United 4-3 on penalties after a 2-2 draw in regulation time.
With eight titles each, Shooting Stars of Ibadan and the defunct Lagos Railways have won the most awards in the tournament.
