French champions, Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed that forward Neymar Jr. will miss the rest of the season due to an ankle injury he suffered last month.
The ten-time Ligue 1 champions revealed that the 31-year-old has suffered several “instances of instability in his right ankle” and it will require surgery to “avoid a major risk of recurrence”. They added it will be three to four months before he can resume training.
The 31-year-old was stretchered off in the early stages of the second half in their 4-3 victory against LOSC Lille at the Parc des Princes on February 19. The former Barcelona forward twisted his ankle after being put under pressure from French midfielder Benjamin Andre.
His repeated injury woes continue to be a recurrent cause of concern for PSG as this setback is his fourth ankle problem since December 2020.
The Brazilian took to his social media to post a message to his fans. It read: “I’ll come back stronger”

Neymar has bagged 18 goals and provided 17 assists in 29 appearances for Les Parisiens this season, including 13 goals and 11 assists in the league.
With an all-important UEFA Champions League match against Bayern Munich coming up on Wednesday at the Allianz Arena and PSG looking to overturn a 1-0 first-leg deficit, the injury to the talisman comes at a terrible time for the Paris-based club as they move into the business end of the season.
