Brazil forward Neymar has extended his contract with Santos until the end of 2026, Afrosport reports.
The 33-year-old, focused on regaining fitness, is hoping to make a comeback to the Brazil national team ahead of this summer’s World Cup in North America.
Neymar rejoined his childhood club in January 2025 but last played for Brazil in 2023, having picked up a serious knee injury in a game against Uruguay.
Despite ongoing challenges, he contributed significantly to Santos, scoring eight goals in 20 league matches, including five in their last five games to ensure they avoided relegation and remained in the Brazilian Serie A for next season.
“Santos is my place. I’m at home,” Neymar said in a video posted on the club’s Instagram.
While addressing the fans, he said: “It’s with you that I want to achieve the dreams that are still missing.”
The former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain star recently underwent surgery on his knee to address a meniscus injury.
Neymar, who is Brazil’s all-time leading goalscorer with 79 goals, is determined to improve his chances of a national team call-up under head coach Carlo Ancelotti.
His history of serious injuries will influence his potential return to international football, as Brazil prepares for the tournament in June, where they are drawn in Group C with Haiti, Scotland, and Morocco.
