NBA: Teams unveil alternate courts for inaugural In-Season Tournament

On Monday, the 30 teams in the National Basketball League (NBA) unveiled the official courts for the inaugural NBA In-Season Tournament, which kicks off in November.

The courts, which the teams will play on during the group play and the quarterfinals, exhibit a vivid and unique layout throughout the league, which will make it easy for fans to identify games that are under the in-season tournament schedule.

The design, which is unified yet distinct, outlines the first time ever that the NBA has implemented an alternate court for all 30 teams in the league, as well as the first time the teams will play on fully painted courts with no woodgrain details on them.

The new In-Season Tournament also provides a bit of history for the Boston Celtics, Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Lakers, New Orleans Pelicans, and Portland Trail Blazers, as they will all be playing on alternate courts for the first time in their respective franchise histories.

The alternate courts provide a fully painted playing surface from edge to edge that displays strong and bold colors. A spitting image of the new NBA Cup, which will be awarded to the champion of the tournament, is also visible in the center court, along with the team preferred team logos inscribed across it, alongside many other notable designs.

The inaugural NBA In-Season Tournament will tip off on Friday, November 3, with Group Play games, which will come to an end on November 28.

The single-elimination knockout rounds begin with the quarterfinals, which will take place on December 4 and 5, with the tournament ending at the business end as the semi-finals and finals take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on December 7 and 9, respectively.
