NBA: Raptors’ Scottie Barnes to miss at least one week with ankle injury

Toronto Raptors forward Scottie Barnes is expected to be sidelined for at least one week with a right ankle injury, the team announced on Wednesday.

Barnes left midway through the third quarter of Toronto’s 113-108 loss to the New York Knicks at Scotiabank Arena on Monday, having been helped off the court by his teammates.

The 23-year-old, who scored 15 points in 23 minutes before exiting the game, suffered the injury when he landed on New York’s Karl-Anthony Towns while battling for a defensive rebound.

Raptors coach Darko Rajakovic said that initial X-rays on Barnes’ foot did not reveal a fracture, and the team added that the forward will be reevaluated in a week.

Barnes, who has already missed 11 games this season due to a right orbital fracture, is averaging 20.6 points, 8.4 rebounds, 7.4 assists, and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 46.1% from the field and 31% on 3-pointers.
