NBA: Philadelphia 76ers’ Paul George suffers bone bruise, to be reevaluated in one week

NBA: Philadelphia 76ers’ Paul George suffers hyperextended knee injury in preseason win

The Philadelphia 76ers can breath a sigh of relief as forward Paul George has escaped any serious damages to a hyperextended left knee he sustained in a preseason game, Afrosport reports.

The 34-year-old has escaped any structural damage to his left knee, rather suffering a bone bruise.

The 76ers announced that an MRI conducted on Tuesday, showed the bone bruise but no structural damage, and the franchise said he would be reevaluated again in about a week.

“Everything checks out OK,” coach Nick Nurse told reporters at the team’s New Jersey complex.

George sustained the injury while defending forward-center Jalen Johnson during the second quarter of a preseason game against the Atlanta Hawks on Monday.

He scored eight points in 12 minutes as Philadelphia recorded a 104-89 win at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta.

The Sixers will open the 2024-25 season next Wednesday against the Milwaukee Bucks.
