New Orleans (3-8) has lost five straight games despite starting the season 3-3. The Pelicans are currently riddled with injuries as Zion Williamson (left hamstring) and Dejounte Murray (left hand fracture) are both out indefinitely. Meanwhile, veteran guards CJ McCollum (right adductor strain) and Herb Jones (right shoulder strain) are expected to be out for multiple weeks.
Alvarado is averaging career highs in scoring (10.7 points per game), assists (4.5 per game), steals (1.5 per game), and 3-point shooting (40%), having started seven of the Pelicans’ last 11 games.
New Orleans will play the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday night before hosting the Denver Nuggets at the Smoothie King Centre in their opening game in the NBA Cup on Friday.
