NBA: Miami Heat suspend Jimmy Butler again for missing team flight

Miami Heat have suspended Jimmy Butler for the second time in three weeks after the forward missed a team flight to Milwaukee, Afrosport reports.

Butler was suspended for seven NBA matches earlier this month by the Heat for “multiple instances of conduct detrimental to the team”.

The 35-year-old, however, returned from that suspension last Friday but faces a fresh two-match ban after missing a team flight on Wednesday.

A statement from the Heat read: “We have suspended Jimmy Butler for two games for continued pattern of disregard of team rules, insubordinate conduct and conduct detrimental to the team, including missing today’s team flight to Milwaukee.”

Miami had already stated that they would be listening to trade offers for the six-time NBA All-Star, who will now miss games against the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday and the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday.

Butler is currently averaging 17 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game across 25 matches this season.

Miami (21-21) are ninth in the Eastern Conference standings and the NBA trade deadline in set for 6 February.
