The Sacramento Kings announced on Monday that All-Star guard De’Aaron Fox will be out for the foreseeable future after suffering an ankle injury in their overtime win against the Los Angeles Lakers at the Golden 1 Center.
The 25-year-old, who finished with 37 points on Sunday night, landed badly on a drive to the basket in the fourth quarter against the Lakers, forcing him to leave the game for a short while.
The Kings announced that an MRI scan carried out on Sunday night after the game revealed that Fox had suffered a “moderate” sprain of his right ankle, and his availability “will be determined at a later date”.
The reigning NBA Clutch Player of the Year has been ruled out of their game against the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday night at Chase Center.
Fox’s indefinite absence will surely cause problems for Sacramento, as their offense relies heavily on his scoring and shot-creating actions. The former fifth overall pick is averaging 31.3 points on 48.6% shooting from the field and 37.5% from the 3-point line across the Kings’ first three games of the season.
