Cleveland Cavaliers guard Ty Jerome has been fined $25,000 for publicly criticising the officials after his side’s win against the Portland Trail Blazers, Afrosport reports.
The sanction, which was announced by NBA Executive Vice President and Head of Basketball Operations Joe Dumars, follows the comments Jerome made after the Cavaliers’ 133-129 overtime win over Portland on 2 March.

The 27-year-old, who finished with 25 points, five rebounds, and six assists, was frustrated with the officiating during the game. He criticised the officials while speaking to the media in the dressing room at Rocket Arena.
“I thought the referees were really bad tonight,” said Jerome when asked how difficult it was to get in a flow on both ends of the floor. “Especially Natalie [Sago], she was really bad.
“So when stuff like that happens, they kind of lose control of the game and you just got to keep your head. I thought the first half was ridiculous, third quarter was horrendous, and you know you just got to keep your head and keep playing.”
Jerome has been huge for Cleveland off the bench this season, averaging 12.0 points, 2.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 51.6% from the field and 44.9% on 3-pointers.
The Cavaliers (50-10) are currently on a 10-game winning streak, and the league and Eastern Conference leaders are at the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday night.
