The excitement is back as the 2022/2023 NBA season will tip off with a fixture against the Philadelphia 76ers and Boston Celtics on Wednesday, October 19. Defending champions Golden State Warriors will also be in action on Wednesday night against Los Angeles Lakers.
As expected, 30 teams will compete for the top crown – Larry O’Brien NBA Championship Trophy with 15 each vying for supremacy in the Western and Eastern Conferences.

Following an eventful summer of activities in the offseason which saw Boston Celtics coach Ime Udoka suspended for the entire 2022-23 season and Kevin Durant signing a contract extension at Brooklyn Nets, attention has shifted to the tip-off that will be shown live on Afrosport TV – Africa’s first continental Free-to-Air (FTA) sports channel.

Start date for Regular season: October 18, 2022.
End Date for Regular season: April 14, 2023.
Play-offs start date: April 15, 2023.
Play-offs end date: May 2023.
NBA Finals: June 2023.
During the course of the season, two NBA games will be played outside the United States with the first taking place in Mexico City between Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs on December 17 while Chicago Bulls and Detroit Pistons jet out to face off at the Accor Arena in the French city of Paris on January 19.
