Portugal became the first team to win the UEFA Nations League more than once following a penalty shoot-out win over Spain in Sunday’s final in Munich, Afrosport reports.
With the match ending in a 2-2 draw after 120 minutes of football, the Portuguese prevailed over last year’s winners Spain 5-3 on penalties to win their second Nations League title and first since the inaugural edition in 2019.

Spain got in front in the 21st minute through Arsenal-bound midfielder Martin Zubimendi, who poked the ball into an empty net after a goalmouth melee. Portugal, however, drew level thanks to a fine strike from left back Nuno Mendes, who was named Player of the Tournament.
Real Sociedad forward Mikel Oyarzabal restored Spain’s lead just before the halftime break but Roberto Martinez’s side evened proceedings once again through Cristiano Ronaldo in the 61st minute.
The match headed for a shoot-out and Portugal converted all their spot-kicks, with Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, Bruno Fernandes, Mendes and Ruben Neves all finding the back of the net. Spain, however, faltered as captain Alvaro Morata had his penalty saved by Diogo Costa, handing their Iberian rivals the victory.
