Nathaniel sets new national record with second place finish at Silesia Diamond League

Nigeria’s Ezekiel Nathaniel continued his outstanding season with a second-place finish in the men’s 400 metres hurdles at the Silesia Diamond League in Poland on Saturday, Afrosport reports.

The 22-year-old produced a remarkable run, clocking a personal best of 47.31 seconds, which also set a new Nigerian national record.

Nathaniel, who recently made his professional debut, crossed the line behind world record holder Karsten Warholm, who stormed to victory in 46.28s – the fastest time in the world this year and a new Diamond League record.

Bahrain’s Abderrahman Samba completed the podium in third with a time of 47.34s.

The Nigerian emerging star, who placed third at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene last month, currently sits ninth in the Diamond League men’s 400mH standings with 13 points.

Meanwhile, both Warholm (38 points) and Samba (22 points) have already booked their places in the season finale in Zurich.
