Napoli star Osimhen in nightclub controversy amid uncertain future

Osimhen: Juventus legend Del Piero defends Nigerian star after backlash in Napoli’s UCL exit

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is at risk of sanctions for being involved in a nightclub brawl in Naples.

After he was dropped for Napoli’s Coppa Italia first-round game against Modena on Saturday, the Nigeria international was spotted in a popular nightclub later in the evening.

Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport claims Osimhen was furious at a fan who filmed him at the club and pushed his way through the crowd to snatch the phone from the owner.

Osimhen’s action is expected to lead to a sanction from Napoli and coach Antonio Conte who does not compromise discipline.

Napoli advanced to the Coppa Italia second round on Saturday with a 4-3 penalty shoot-out win against Modena after a goalless draw but Osimhen was notably missing in action.

The 2023 African Footballer of the Year still faces an uncertain future at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona having submitted his transfer request to the club authorities on several occasions.

Napoli sporting director, Giovanni Manna confirmed Osimhen’s latest move to force his exit from Naples but the club are yet to get a suitor that meets their €130 million valuation.

Osimhen presently trains with his Napoli teammates but he has not been involved in matches as Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly interested in signing him this summer.

The Nigeria star still has a two years in his Napoli contract.
