Chelsea forward Myhkalio Mudryk has been suspended from football activities and isolated from the squad after testing positive in a doping test, Afrosport reports.
The Ukrainian was found to have tested positive after a routine urine test was processed on him. However, Chelsea and Mudryk are still investigating the whole issue as the club also confirmed that the periodic testing programme is a normal culture of the club’s environment.
The 23-year-old also confirmed that he was shocked by the rise of the whole situation as he denies coming in contact with any prohibited substance.
A statement from Chelsea read: “Both the club and Mykhailo fully support The FA’s testing programme and all our players, including Mykhailo, are regularly tested.
“Mykhailo has confirmed categorically that he has never knowingly used any banned substances. Both Mykhailo and the Club will now work with the relevant authorities to establish what has caused the adverse finding.
“The club will not be commenting any further.”
Furthermore, Mudryk also reacted to the situation, stating that he had not done anything wrong and would be back on the pitch soon.
“I can confirm that I have been notified that a sample I provided to The FA contained a banned substance,” he said.
“This has come as a complete shock as I have 𝐍𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑 knowingly used any banned substances or broken any rules, I’m working closely with my team to investigate how this could have happened.
“I know that I have not done anything wrong, and so I remain hopeful that I will be back on the pitch soon.
“I can’t say any more now due to the confidentiality of the process with FA, but I will do it as soon as I can.”
The Ukraine international has found the back of the net three times and provided five assists in 15 appearances this season.
