Moyes targets first win at Anfield as Everton boss

David Moyes said it would be a huge achievement if Everton can beat Liverpool at Anfield in Wednesday’s Premier League Merseyside derby, Afrosport reports.

The Scottish tactician has faced the Reds at Anfield 19 times in the league, 11 of them as Toffees boss but has failed to win any, drawing six and losing five.

Everton will however be hoping to avoid defeat in both Premier League fixtures against Liverpool for the first time since the 2020-21 campaign when they won 2-0 at Anfield and drew 2-2 at Goodison Park.

The reverse fixture this term ended in a 2-2 draw.

“It would be huge for us as a club to get that because it is not something that the club has done particularly often [either],” Moyes said.

“It has always been difficult. I’ve had a few draws there, which I remember well, but it is always tough.

“It’s not just us, it’s tough for a lot of clubs in the Premier League to go there and get a result.”

Everton are currently unbeaten in their last nine league games (W4 D5), with their longest streak being 10 games in December 2013 under now-Portugal boss Roberto Martinez.
