Former Chelsea and Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is set to return to football management after agreeing a deal with Turkish club, Fenerbahce, to become their new head coach.

The 61-year-old has been out of a job since January after leaving AS Roma, where he won the UEFA Europa Conference League in 2022.

According to reports, Mourinho had offers from the Saudi Arabian Pro League and Major League Soccer (MLS) in the United States, but “The Special One” as he is fondly called, decided to remain in Europe.

The Portuguese tactician is expected to sign a two-year deal that will see him take charge of Fenerbahce until June 2026. It will also include an option for a further season.

Mourinho won the UEFA Champions League with FC Porto and Inter Milan and also won the Liga Portugal and the Italian Serie A.

In a managerial career spanning 24 years, he also won the Premier League with Chelsea, the Spanish La Liga with Real Madrid, the Europa League with Manchester United, and domestic cup competitions in Spain, England and Italy.
