Morocco announce three friendlies ahead of women’s World Cup

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation have announced that the women’s national team will play Italy, Switzerland and Jamaica in a series of friendlies next month as part of their preparations for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

The Atlas Lionesses will tackle the Italians first on July 1 followed by the Swiss four days later before wrapping things up against the Jamaicans on July 16.

Reynald Pedros’ team have played four friendlies this year, claiming 3-0 and 2-0 victories against Slovakia and Bosnia & Herzegovina respectively in February before losing 2-0 and 1-0 to the Czech Republic and Romania respectively in April.

Morocco will be making their debut at the Women’s World Cup after reaching the final of the 2022 Women’s African Cup of Nations on home soil but lost out 2-1 to South Africa.

The North Africans have been paired in Group H with Germany, Colombia and South Korea.
