Moffi suffers ACL injury during OGC Nice pre-season training

OGC Nice forward Terem Moffi will spend a considerable time of the sidelines after his club confirmed he ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during pre-season training in Austria on Tuesday.

The Nigeria international’s injury is a big blow for the French club having been a key member of the squad since joining from Lorient 18 months ago and has scored 20 competitive goals and provided five assists in 52 games.

The nature of Moffi’s injury means he could be out for up to nine months, meaning he will miss a huge chunk of the 2024-25 season which begins on August 18.

“Injured during training, Terem Moffi (25) underwent further tests today. The results confirmed a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee,” read a statement on the club website.

“The Nigerian striker will be able to count on the unwavering support of the entire Rouge et Noir family. Staff, team-mates, Le Gym employees and supporters will all be with him during his recovery and wish him a speedy recovery.

“Take care Terem, you’ll come back stronger!”

According to reports, Nice are considering scouting the transfer market for a striker with Moffi’s long term spell on the sidelines.

Les Aiglons have only just two fit senior centre-forwards in Gaetan Laborde and Evann Guessand, with the latter considering parting ways with the club this summer.
