Luka Modric has signed a one-year contract that will keep him at Real Madrid until the summer of 2024.
The 37-year-old Croatian midfielder’s contract was due to expire this summer and had been linked with a move to the Saudi Arabian Pro League where some of Europe’s biggest stars have heading to this summer, including Karim Benzema who moved to reigning champions Al- Ittihad.
Modric made 488 appearances for Los Blancos, scoring 37 goals and providing 77 assists and has a total of 23 titles, including three La Liga trophies and five UEFA Champions League titles. He was also the 2018 recipient of the Ballon d’Or.
Following the announcement of his contract extension, Modric posted a caption on Twitter that read: “Home Sweet Home. #Modric2024.”

The former Tottenham Hotspur man joins the trio of Toni Kroos, Dani Ceballos and Nacho Fernandez in extending their contracts at the Santiago Bernabeu.
