Bradley Carnell’s St Louis City were on the losing aside again as they were defeated 3-1 to Real Salt Lake at CityPark in Major League Soccer on Wednesday night.
St. Louis previously lost 3-1 at Nashville SC at the weekend and went behind on their turf when Diego Luna scored for Real Salt Lake in the 15th minute.
Nicholas Gioacchini equalised for St. Louis seven minutes later for his third consecutive goal and fifth in his last seven games.
There would be no way through for South African tactician Carnell and his team as Real Salt Lake added two more goals in the second half courtesy of Croatian Damir Kreilach’s brace.

The result was the third time this season St. Louis have lost back-to-back games after losing against Minnesota United and Seattle Sounders and against Portland Timbers and Chicago Fire.
Carnell admitted his team did not play by their principles and it allowed Real Salt Lake to have their way.
“Just a little bit leggy, just a little bit slow in the thought process, just a little bit delayed in our actions,” the former New York Red Bulls manager said after the game.
“And unfortunately, as a collective, we let our principles get away for certain moments, and yeah, individuals from the opponent team find spaces, little pockets of space to penalize and hurt us, because if our principles don’t succeed in a 2v1 mentality, it gets interesting for the opponent.”
It was also their seventh loss of the season and has seen them drop to second in the MLS Western Conference standings, three points behind reigning MLS Cup champions Los Angeles FC who have two outstanding games while St. Louis have one game in hand.
