Denis Bouanga became the all-time top scorer of Los Angeles FC after scoring in Wednesday’s 4-1 Major League Soccer (MLS) win at Real Salt Lake, Afrosport reports.
The Gabon forward came into the game at America First Field off the back of a 4-2 victory over San Jose Earthquakes at the weekend that saw him record his third career hat-trick to become the club’s joint all-time top scorer along side Mexican legend Carlos Vela.
Wednesday night however saw former Tottenham Hotspur captain Heung-Min Son score his first MLS hat-trick after netting in the third, 16th and 82nd minute while Bouanga completed the scoring in the 88th minute to become the outright LAFC top scorer with 94 goals in 145 competitive appearances.
The former Saint-Etienne player was thrilled with the chemistry he and Son are building since his record transfer from the Premier League.
“I have a good partnership with Sonny. I think we’re really complementary, and I already mentioned that,” he said per the MLS website.
“But the fact that he’s here in the team now, it opens a lot of opportunities and space to do more things.”
