Former Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi has heaped praises on Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson following the Senegalese forward’s recently found goal scoring form.
Jackson has often been criticised by fans and experts for failing to convert goal scoring opportunities that has come his way since signing for Chelsea from Villarreal in 2023.
Mikel, a former Chelsea player, has also been openly critical of the striker in the past. However, the Nigerian has had a U-turn, claiming that Jackson is fast silencing his critics going by his good start to the new season.
Jackson scored twice in Chelsea’s 3-0 victory over West Ham United at the London Stadium on Saturday, his fourth in the Premier League this season.
On the latest episode of his Obi One Podcast, released on Monday, Mikel said, “Nicolas Jackson wants the best for Chelsea Football Club.
“There is an absolutely fantastic player there, and it’s amazing to see that he’s taking on board what I’m saying to improve.
“The way he scored the two goals is absolutely fantastic.”
On his previous criticism of the Senegal international, Mikel noted that it was not personal but his words were meant to help the player improve.
“We’re not here to put anyone down or criticise the players,” the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winner said.
