Chuba Akpom was once again on the scoresheet as Middlesbrough defeated Watford 2-0 in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.
Michael Carrick’s men suffered a 2-0 defeat at Sunderland in the Tees–Wear derby last weekend but were back to their best against the Hornets.
Akpom gave Boro the lead six minutes to the half time break, heading in his rebounded effort that was initially saved by Daniel Bachmann in goal for Watford. It extended the Anglo-Nigerian’s tally in the Championship to 14 goals which remains the most of any player.
The Teeside outfit went 2-0 up in added time of the first half thanks to Marcus Forss who made a darting run into the box and buried the ball into the bottom right corner of the net.
Watford tried to fight their way back in the second half but it was all in vein as Middlesbrough held on for their 13th league win of the season and moved up to third on the table.

They are however 12 points behind Sheffield United for the automatic promotion spot to the Premier League and will next be in action against Blackpool at the Riverside.
