Juventus have condemned the racist abuse American midfielder Weston McKennie was subjected to during the Bianconeri’s Serie A opener against Parma, Afrosport reports.
The Turin side won the game 2-0 at the Allianz Stadium, but it was marred by abuse towards McKennie while he was training with players on the bench after the match.
The 26-year-old started the match from the bench and came on for Kenan Yildiz in the 90th minute.
Juventus spoke out against the actions of those fans and has promised to fish out all those responsible for the vile act.
“This evening, at the end of the match against Parma, Weston McKennie was subjected to discriminatory racist remarks by some individuals in the away section, while he was training on the pitch with his teammates who had not taken part in the game,” read a club statement on X.
“Juventus strongly condemns this incident and any form of racism, and will ensure full cooperation with the sporting justice authorities to identify those responsible.”
