Brentford manager Thomas Frank believes that the consistency with which Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa have scored goals has given an answer to doubters.
There have been concerns about where Brentford’s goals would come from since talisman Ivan Toney was suspended by the FA for breaching betting regulations.
Mbeumo and Wissa have however been delivering the goals, the Cameroonian and Congolese netting in the Bees’ 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. They have been involved in nine goals (six goals, three assists) since Toney’s absence three games to the end of the 2022-23 season.
“Seeing them both score was very pleasing. Every time Ivan was out last year and they played together, they scored! And they did that again today,” Frank said on the club website.
“That’s the best answer they can give to anyone that might have been in doubt – I was never in doubt, by the way, because they’ve proven it before. So, it was really, really good to see that.”

Frank also praised full-back Rico Henry who was a livewire down the left flank, providing the assist for Wissa’s goal.
“I think Rico was maybe our Man of the Match, I’d go as far to say,” Frank stated. “I really loved the way he would just sprint forward and create situations.
“He should have had another assist, by the way, the one where he played a beautiful ball across for Bryan. That was all really good.”
