Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe has reported his previous club, Paris Saint-Germain, to the French League’s (LFP) disciplinary committee owing to a dispute over unpaid wages and bonuses.
A source close to the LFP confirmed that a hearing on the issue will take place on 11 December after PSG refused to pay Mbappe the 55 million euros he’s owed during his time at the Parc des Princes.
PSG were ordered by the LFP to pay the striker his owed wages, but the French champions refused to adhere to the league body’s ruling, adding that Mbappe had agreed in August 2023 to waive the money.
However, the issue continued to linger as the French Football Federation last month rejected PSG’s request to reconsider the order to pay Mbappe, saying it was submitted a day late.
The French league’s statutes, however, state that PSG could face a fine or a ban on signing players, but the Paris-based club feels they have the upper hand in the case and are ready to go as far as an industrial tribunal to get a favourable ruling.
The Madrid move seems to be the benchmark of the whole problem, as PSG never wanted Mbappe to leave for free, so they initiated the agreement after sidelining him from the squad.
