‘Mbappe is PSG’s undisputed leader’ – Enrique praises Franco-Cameroonian superstar

Luis Enrique has labelled Kylian Mbappe as the“undisputed” leader of PSG following their 4-1 win over Barcelona in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals on Tuesday night.

The Blaugrana won the first leg in Paris 3-2 but were let down in the return leg on home soil by Ronald Araujo’s red card in the first half.

This allowed PSG to find their way back into the tie, with Mbappe netting a brace including a penalty while former Barca boy Ousmane Dembele and Portuguese midfielder Vitinha netted the rest for a 6-4 aggregate victory.

Mbappe has now scored five goals against Barcelona, making the Catalan giants the team he has scored most Champions League goals against.

“You have to rewatch the pressure from Kylian Mbappe., he’s been the undisputed leader of our team. In an aspect of the game where usually forwards don’t highlight,” Enrique said after the game.

“Rewatch the pressure in our team by Kylian, Ousmane [Dembele] and Bradley [Barcola]. Three players putting pressure on five rival players and playing four against three in our defence line.

“Congratulations. That’s what we all want. It’s proof that leadership comes from exemplary performances. And when Kylian is able to do that, we become a much better team.”

Mbappe’s contract will expire at the end of the season and has expressed his intention not to renew it, giving room for a potential move to Real Madrid in the summer.
