Nigerians are rooting for Finidi George’s success at the helm following the confirmation of his appointment as the new Super Eagles head coach.
Finidi George is not a stranger to the Nigeria national football team, having previously played for the country and he was formerly an assistant coach to Jose Peseiro before acting in an interim capacity in March.
The 53-year-old has been in charge of Enyimba since 2021 and he led the People’s Elephants to win the Nigeria Professional League title in 2023.
Finidi George’s first assignment will be to get the Super Eagles their first win in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers later in June with the three-time African champions currently third in Group C behind Rwanda and South Africa.
Now that Finidi George has been confirmed as the coach of the super eagles, what we need from him is result.
We know it might take a while to implement his philosophy but it shouldn’t be at the detriment of result.
