Mario Lemina plays down injury fears after Galatasaray draw with Kasimpasa

Mario Lemina has played down any injury fears after he was taken off in Galatasaray’s 3-3 draw with Kasimpasa in the Turkish Super Lig on Sunday, Afrosport reports.

The Gabon midfielder tied the game for 2-2 and was taken off after 80 minutes in some discomfort and replaced by Kaan Ayhan.

It raised questions about the severity of his injury but he clarified that he had no injuries and is working on building his fitness levels having been inactive since he was frozen out at former club Wolverhampton Wanderers in December before moving to Galatasaray during the winter transfer window.

“I have no injuries.” Lemina told the club website. “We went through a busy process. I didn’t play for six weeks either. The Fenerbahce match was very intense. I always try to give my maximum. I need to rest well. I believe that we will train well as a team this week and win the next match.”

Reflecting on the draw against Kasimpasa, Lemina said: “What was missing in today’s match was freshness. We also need to question ourselves. We need to work harder in training. We spent a week very intensively. It is also important to rest. We have a week for the next match. We know what we have to do. We will work accordingly.”

Galatasaray remain unbeaten in the Super Lig this season (W20 D5) and are four points clear of fierce rivals Fenerbahce.
