Sadio Mane made his return from Bundesliga suspension and scored but it ended in defeat with Bayern Munich falling 3-1 at Mainz on Saturday afternoon.
The Senegal superstar served a one-game ban and was fined €500,000 after his altercation with teammate Leroy Sane in the 3-0 loss to Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg on April 11.
Mane got back into the starting eleven and gave Bayern the lead in the 29th minute after connecting with Joao Cancelo’s sublime cross and headed it past Robin Zentner in goal for Mainz. It was the former Liverpool man’s seventh goal in his 21st Bundesliga appearance.

That would be all from the Bavarian giants as Mainz went on 14-minute goalscoring spree in the second half via Ludovic Ajorque, Leandro Martins and Aaron Martin.
The defeat sees Bayern surrender top spot to Borussia Dortmund who triumphed 4-0 over Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.
Thomas Tuchel’s side have won just two of their last five Bundesliga games (D1 L2) and will host German capital club Hertha Berlin next Sunday for a chance to return to the summit of the table.
