Mane reacts to winning first title with Al Nassr

Sadio Mane won his first trophy for Al Nassr following their 2-1 extra time victory over rivals Al-Hilal in the final of the Arab Club Champions Cup on Saturday.

The Senegal international is a new signing from Bayern Munich, joining a host of high profile players that have moved to the Arabian Gulf this summer.

Mane made his debut against Zamalek in the last round of the Arab Club Champions Cup group stage and went on to feature against Raja Casablanca and Al Shorta in the quarter-finals and semi-finals respectively.

The former Liverpool man started the final and was not taken off until the 120th minute of extra time and replaced by Abdulaziz Al Aliwa.

Brazilian forward Michael gave Al-Hilal the lead in the 51st minute but Al Nassr had Portugal superstar Cristiano Ronaldo to thank as he equalised in the 74th minute before netting the winner in the 98th minute of extra time. All of this with Al Nassr finishing the game with nine men as Abdulelah Al Amri and Nawaf Al-Boushail received straight red cards while the same fate also fell on manager Luis Castro.

Mane took to Instagram, posting of picture of himself sitting in a plane, wearing a pilot’s hat and holding the trophy with the caption: “It’s all about this. Well done boys.”

Mane will be teaming up with Ronaldo for the upcoming Saudi Pro League season where they will hope to wrestle the title from Al-Ittihad who finished five points clear of them last season.

Castro’s team start their season against Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq on Monday.
