Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim says boos from the fans are justified after the team’s 1-0 loss to ASEAN All-Stars in their tour of Malaysia on Wednesday, Afrosport reports.
Despite fielding a much stronger side, the Red Devils failed to inspire, with a goal from Myanmar’s Maung Maung Lwin making the difference in Kuala Lampur.
Amorim took the blame for the defeat and said it was only normal fans would boo the team having consistently performed poorly over the course of the just-concluded 2024-25 season where they finished a lowly 15th in the Premier League.
“I feel always guilty. I said that in the last game, I’m always guilty of the performance of the team, no matter what. Since I’m here in the first day, I am guilty,” the Portuguese said.
“Then the boos from the fans, I think it’s something that we need, maybe. Because every game that we lost in the Premier League, they were always there. So, it’s like the way of playing.
“If they see that it is not working, they will change the way they behave. I felt then when we finish and we walk away like every time the supporter was with us and again, let’s wait for the next season.”
