Manchester City left-back Benjamin Mendy has been declared not guilty of six counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.
The jury was unable to reach verdicts on one other count of rape and one count of attempted rape, following a six-month-long trial at the Chester Crown Court in Chesire.
The jury, which consists of seven men and four women, delivered the unanimous verdicts on Wednesday.
However, the verdicts could not be concluded as the jurors had not concluded the remaining two counts.
Thereafter, the prosecution sought a retrial on those unresolved counts, which has been scheduled for June 26.
Also, his friend Louis Saha Matturie was found not guilty of three counts of rape, as the jurors failed to reach verdicts on three counts of rape and three counts of sexual assault filed against him.
Mendy and his friend Matturie were both accused of sexual offences against women at the former Monaco player’s home in Cheshire and at an unnamed flat in Manchester.
The two men had been on trial since August 10, 2022, after they were accused by 13 women of multiple sexual offences.
Mendy bore the brunt of the charges, as he was charged with eight rapes, one attempted rape, and a sexual assault.
The French defender was first arrested in November 2020 and was suspended by the Pep Guardiola-led team in August 2021 after he was charged with rape.
Mendy has only played two games for the Cityzens since the 2021-22 season, one in the Premier League and one in the Community Shield.
