Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez has sent an encouraging message to his former club, Leicester City who are struggling to maintain their Premier League status.
The Foxes are currently 19th in the league table with 25 points after 31 matches – two points adrift of safety.
Mahrez played from start to finish on Saturday as Man City handed Leicester their 20th loss of the season with a 3-1 win at the Etihad Stadium.
Erling Haaland’s brace and John Stones’ opener were enough to propel the hosts, even though former Man City’s Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho grabbed a consolation goal for Leicester City.
Despite the dip in form, the Algeria captain expresses confidence in the Foxes to beat the drop and play in the English top-flight next season.
“Important 3 points today. Focus on the next one. On a personal note, I’d also like to wish Leicester City the best possible outcome for this season. You can do it,” Mahrez tweeted.

Mahrez’s first taste of English football was at Leicester City following a move from French club Le Havre.
He helped the Foxes gain promotion to the Premier League in 2014 as Championship winners and two years later, he played a remarkable role in helping the King Power Stadium outfit dominate the top-flight by winning the Premier League crown in the 2015-16 campaign.
Leicester City will be hoping to bag their first Premier League win since February 11 when they face Wolverhampton Wanderers for their next fixture on April 22.
