Manchester City have agreed a deal to sign Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi for a fee in the region of £20 million in the ongoing transfer window, Afrosport reports.
The Ivory Coast-born centre back has been linked with some of the leading Premier League clubs, notably Liverpool, with his contract set to expire at Selhurst Park this summer.
He was close to joining the Reds in the last summer transfer window but the deal fell through on deadline day. The opportunity to join City has, however, opened following injuries to defenders Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias.
According to BBC Sport, personal terms have not been formally agreed but should not be a problem as Guehi commits to a long-term contract.
Guehi captained Palace to the FA Cup title last season by beating Man City at Wembley, which earned them a place in the Europa League before being demoted to the Conference League for failing to comply with UEFA’s multi-club ownership rules.
He also won them the Community Shield at the start of this season, defeating Liverpool on penalties after a 2-2 draw in regular time.
Guehi will become City’s second signing in January after Ghana’s Antoine Semenyo for £62.5 million from Bournemouth.
