LPGA announces record-breaking $131 million in prize money in 2025

The organisers of the LPGA Tour have announced a first-of-its-kind $131 million prize money ahead of the 2025 season, where the best female golfers in the world will come together to compete, Afrosport reports.

Along with the record-breaking prize pool, which is the highest in the competition’s 75-year history, the organisers also released the schedule for the 2025 season on Wednesday, featuring 35 events.

The Tournament of Champions in Florida begins the tour in 2025 from January 30 to February 2. The tour will cut across 14 states in the United States and 11 other countries worldwide, including two multi-event Asian swings.

The combined purse total for the five majors will be over $47 million, which is also the highest in the LPGA Tour’s history.

The first women’s major of the season—the Chevron Championship—will be held from April 24 to April 27 at The Club at Carlton Woods in The Woodlands, Texas, while the other four majors will be contested over a span of nine weeks.

The U.S. Women’s Open at Erin Hills in Wisconsin, featuring a $12 million purse, will begin this run. It will be held from May 29 till June 1 and is the richest of the five blue-riband events based on the prize money.

The season will also end with the record-breaking CME Group Tour Championship next November in Naples, Florida. The event sets an $11 million purse, including a $4 million winner’s check, which the LPGA claims is the largest single prize in the history of women’s golf.
