Ademola Lookman says he is not interested in having a leap in next year’s Ballon d’Or after helping Atalanta to a 3-0 win over Serie A leaders Napoli on Sunday, Afrosport reports.
The Nigerian forward placed 14th in last Monday’s ranking for the men’s player award which received a lot of praise.
He topped it up by netting a first half brace against the Partenopei and have moved within three points of the league leaders.
Lookman, who has 27 competitive goal involvements (16 goals, 11 assists) in 2024 which is the most of any Serie A player, has now prioritised helping the reigning Europa League champions get better results this season.
“Ballon d’Or? I’m not interested in individual awards, I have to continue working to help the team achieve results,” the former RB Leipzig player said.
“Individual achievements are part of football, but this is a team game, my squad helps me a lot. I continue working and try to help the team when I can.”

Reflecting on the result against Napoli, Lookman said: “It was a big performance from the team, we’re happy and three points away to the leaders is never easy, so we’re proud of that.”
Atalanta will now turn their attention to the UEFA Champions League where they take on Stuttgart on Wednesday.
